Knowles provides component and system solutions for all types of BTE hearing instruments from Super BTE to Miniature BTE. With our range of products, we can advise on the configuration of microphones for improved directionality to allow for the most enhanced end user experience possible.

Super Power BTE Hearing Instruments

  • Assist people with profound hearing loss
  • Sound pressure level (SPL) output typically over 135dB, requiring a powerful receiver
  • Directional microphones or multiple microphone pairs or triplets recommended for improved directionality for the user

Power BTE Hearing Instruments

  • Assist people with moderate to severe hearing losses, needing up to 70dB of acoustic gain
  • Sound pressure level (SPL) output typically between 125dB and 130dB

Mini BTE Hearing Instruments

  • Assist people with mild to moderate hearing losses
  • Sound pressure level (SPL) output typically between 120dB and 125dB
  • Cosmetically appealing to the patient

No matter what the application, Knowles offers a wide variety of receivers and microphones to fit the need.

Knowles' extensive experience in the development of many of the Open Canal hearing instruments makes us uniquely qualified to work together with you to design and develop state-of-the-art products. Knowles has what you need — whether it is a small receiver suitable for an open canal device, expertise in system assembly or design know-how.

Full-shell ITE Hearing Instruments

  • Assist people with moderate to severe hearing losses
  • Visible to the eye, but less conspicuous than BTE instruments
  • Largest and loudest of custom product range
  • Delivers 120dB SPL to 125dB SPL output or more
  • Design options available for both power and small size

Half-shell ITE Hearing Instruments

  • Assist people with mild to moderate hearing losses
  • Smaller than full-shell ITE instruments and less conspicuous
  • Delivers 110dB SPL to 115dB SPL output, occasionally exceeds 120dB
  • Enhanced directionality improves end user experience
  • Design options for smaller size, high output receivers

hear tab

  • Assist people with mild to moderate hearing losses
  • Fit inside the ear, nearly concealing the hearing instrument
  • Delivers 105dB SPL to 115dB SPL output
  • Because hearing instrument is inside ear, the pinna and outer ear provide good directionality via omni-directional microphone
  • Design options available for these application requirements

hear tab

  • Assist people with mild to moderate hearing losses
  • Fits entirely inside the ear canal, concealing the hearing instrument
  • Delivers 100dB SPL to 110dB SPL output
  • Because hearing instrument is inside ear, good directional information is provided to the instrument via the ear canal and outer ear
  • Design options for compact microphones and high output receivers
