Knowles' advanced microphone capabilities are realized in two product categories — ultra-high performance hearing instrument microphones and consumer-focused electret condenser microphones.
Hearing instrument microphones offer the worlds' best signal to noise ratio in ultra-small packages designed to operate at 0.9V and below. Utilizing primarily back-electret motor structures and custom low-voltage / low-noise ICs, Knowles has the broadest and most advanced hearing instrument microphone portfolio in the world.
Electret condenser microphones (ECMs) have been designed into consumer electronic devices for many years. The technology provides good acoustic performance, high volume production and reliability under non-severe environmental conditions.
Our new 3mm microphones are 25% smaller than the smallest ECMs on the market; and our FG model is the smallest ECM in the world.
