The Knowles AISonic™ Audio Edge Processor IA8201 is a high-performance, ultra-low power audio-centric OpenDSP supporting up to 4 mics, multiple high speed interfaces and GPIOs in two package options (eWLB and QFN). IA8508 combines three Tensilica-based, audio-centric DSP cores with an ARM Cortex M4 to maximize design flexibility. The DSP cores provide low-latency, high-capacity processing for audio and machine learning computations, while the Cortex M4 blends signal processing with general-purpose controller capability. The platform leverages 4MB of user available RAM to enable multiple simultaneous use cases and can be advantageously configured into an ultra-low power system. While Knowles industry-leading MEMS silicon surface mount microphone technology, in bottom port configuration offer flat frequency response in the standard audio bandwidth, they are also capable to support even higher frequency bands. The MQM is the smallest and most production friendly hearing instrument microphone offered. Utilizing Knowles MEMS technology, the MQM allows for efficient reflow soldering assembly. It is ideal for matched omni-directional pair applications as well as applications where the smallest possible size is required.
Introduced in 1986, the EK is the lowest noise Knowles microphone. Its high electroacoustic sensitivity and low noise make this microphone an excellent choice for applications where space is not an issue. The EK can also be used in directional applications as a matched omni-directional pair.
The EM is the most popular omni-directional microphone offered. The superior performance of the low noise EM makes it the choice of hearing instrument manufacturers for all hearing instrument sizes. The EM can also be used in directional applications as a matched omni-directional pair. The BEM is an improved version of the EM microphone. It offers enhanced PFA performance, as well as power-on reset and an electrical high pass filter. The BEM is ideal in directional applications as a matched omni-directional pair.
The BU Series piezo-ceramic accelerometer has output from 20 Hz to above 10 kHz, and is used primarily as a contact microphone for high noise environments. It may also be used as an accelerometer with lightweight structures. As a contact microphone, the BU may be worn on the throat, or touching a bony part of the head (top, temple, or mastoid bone). BU has been integrated into helmet designs for radio communication for military and emergency services.
The NR Series close talking microphones deliver state-of-the-art noise canceling performance. NR microphones are used as headset microphones in the most demanding communication and speech recognition environments. The NR Series microphones are available in boom microphone packages. Introduced in 1976, the EA is a time-tested electret condenser microphone. It is widely used in more cost sensitive applications.
